What Should I Wear During An Interview?

By Brian and Jeff On August 8, 2009 Under Commercial Real Estate Loans

I will soon be interviewing for several different positions such as:
Leasing Agent
Commercial real estate assistant
Assistant for a top producing real estate agent
I was told by a friend to wear:
Blue sports coat
Crisp white shirt
Conservative tie with some red in it
Khakis pants
black shoes
Does this sound OK or should i be wearing a full suit??

General rule of thumb for any interview is to wear a suit, even if the work enviornment will evenutally be business casual, it is never “un” appropriate to wear a suit, even if you stand out from the rest – that’s what you want right?

Wear something professional.
Try a suit

Always, always wear a well-fitting full suit for a white collar job interview. There are no exceptions.
Color should be dark navy, black or gray- pinstripes fine.
tie should be assertive but not flashy.

That combination sounds good, but I believe wearing a full suit makes you look more sharp, especiallly in navy blue or gray. Good Luck !

I would wear a suit. A pinstrip suit would be pretty.

hi.. first of all you gotta see what the job is .. are you informed about the job. do you know how to handle your self…
show motivation… you gotta show the guy you want the job because you enjoy the job not the pay. and then you gotta see who is interviewing you:
if a female interviews you , you have to do a few things more.
polish your shoes. dont go in there with dirty cloths. put on something fresh and clean. have your suit dry cleaned and always wear a suit. now if your dark colord skin wear a mild color suit if your a white color skin guy wear a darker color suit.
dont wear slacky austantacious colors.
female interviewers tend to pay attention to your way of handling your self .. as the statement says : dont let the dress wear you. so wear something that you feel confident in.
plus. ask questions at the right time. dont stand stiff. remember to have a blunt smile on your face and be ready.
listen…
you know 60 % of interviews go bad becuase the guy is never listening and they are all in their head with pre-thoughts of being accepted or not. so really listen and comply.
just remember not to waer anything flashy or bright . u wanna make them see your not your cloths.
always have a pen and paper handy and try to requote the person in charge atleast once. again try making sense.
besure to do this at the end its a dead give a way.. i still dont know any one whose done this that hasnt nailed the job..
before going to the interview try to catch up on the position and what its about and right before you leave the interviewer ask them something like have they implemented this new theory that has caught your attention as you were going through some books or the internet. this way your telling them that i may know something but i sure as hell wanna know more and im motivated enough to do it on my own and intrested enough to ask you even though others might think it makes me look unfilled.
good luck !!! after this you wont need luck ! lol

Wear the full suit to the interview. Save the Khakis for afterwards.

Where a full suit. Why dress less?

Hi, I’m a recruiter and you always, always wear a jacket and tie. By that I include what you are talking about here. A jacket and tie with a dress shirt gives the same appearance. It says that you care and that you are professional. Either wear that or a full suit, but never less. I think this sounds fine.

A full suit, polished shoes, etc.
As smart as possible!

Dress to impress. Even if they are in jeans, go in showing them you want the job dressed like a CEO.

How about a classic suit, like everyone else.

Your friend gave you good advice, but your idea of wearing a suit will by far impress the interviewers over your friends idea. Good Luck! you’ll be great either way.
