Get licensed as a real estate sales agent in your state which you need to look into as far as educational requirement. Those courses teach you nothing about commercial real estate. They only deal with general real estate knowledge designed to teach you the minimum about real property and consumer issues. The State real estate commissions who license agents don’t want them taking advantage of the public. Once you see the light in getting a license you need to find a place to work where the concentration is on commercial property. This is the tough part, they don’t usually pay salary’s, but commission only. The other alternative to working for a broker is to learn about the field as a property manager, tax assessor, site selector or other job in the government or corporate sector. Making a living while learning is important too. With some experience and some commercial real estate courses ( see ccim.com – irem.com – sior.com) you can get into a better position in either moving up the corporate side or in brokerage.

You need to go to school and pass the RE exam. In many states you can not be licensed without being sponsered by a broker. Find a broker or two who is interested in you.
