How Does Obama Plan On “changing” Washington?

By Brian and Jeff On November 10, 2009 Under Commercial Real Estate Loans

I thought he was against lobbyists ;)
Obama’s presidential campaign has received $2,812,336 from firms that employ registered federal lobbyists. [fec.gov]
Obama has taken $405,747 from the Pharmaceutical industry. [opensecrets.org]
Obama has received $1,185,937 from the Commercial Banking industry. [opensecrets.org]
Obama has received over six million dollars from the Securities & Investment industry. [opensecrets.org]
Obama has taken $608,822 from the Insurance industry. [opensecrets.org]
Obama has taken $168,584 from the Mortgage Banking industry. [opensecrets.org]
Prior to His Presidential Campaign, Sen. Obama took Money from Lobbyists and PACs
1996-2004: $296,000 of the $461,000 Sen. Obama raised as a state senator came from PACs, corporate contributions or unions. “But behind Obama’s campaign rhetoric about taking on special interests lies a more complicated truth. A Globe review of Obama’s campaign finance records shows that he collected hundreds of thousands of dollars from lobbyists and PACs as a state legislator in Illinois, a US senator, and a presidential aspirant. In Obama’s eight years in the Illinois Senate, from 1996 to 2004, almost two-thirds of the money he raised for his campaigns — $296,000 of $461,000 — came from PACs, corporate contributions, or unions, according to Illinois Board of Elections records. He tapped financial services firms, real estate developers, healthcare providers, oil companies, and many other corporate interests, the records show.” [Boston Globe, 8/9/07]

The only “change” Obama wants is a change to his home address!

You can always tell educated supporters from clueless bandwagoner’s. The clueless are the ones shouting “lies!” even though a monkey can look this stuff up – it’s public record!
Well before January 2008 he was pledging to take public campaign financing to run for the Presidency. Now that he’s seen that money, suddenly he’s reneged on his own promise.
So, depending on how you look at it, “change” might mean his position or mind.

It’s sad at how many facts you can bring about this man and people will continue to blindly support him because he represents himself as a man of change. He is friends with a known terrorist, and yet when I listen to the radio and people are asked would they be friends with a terrorist, they would rather say yes or avoid the question than go against Obama. This could be our President and every fact about him should be consider in every ones decision making…..

He can’t. Washington is an inherently corrupt place and so long as there are politicians it always will be. Everyone runs on the pledge to clean up politics. 200 years of the democratic process and the government is still the land of back deals and shady figures. I’m sick of being told that he’s the miracle cure for all of this.

Exactly!! Had Hillary Clinton made ONE bogus statement, CNN and MSNBC would have investigated and we would have heard that mentioned every day until her campaign ended….I wonder when they will turn on him. ABC did a fantastic job with the last debate….so good that Obama refused to debate her again! I think CNN and MSNBC have lost a lot of viewers.

Osama Obama will introduce Socialism. Income tax will rocket up to around 70%. He already said how he will have universal health care. He’ll pour so much money into welfare which will be available to illegal immigrants, because he will grant them amnesty. Do NOT vote for this man.

Since he was in Washington so far . . . and is a career politician, jsut like the rest of them . . . don’t see it, except to have a first lady who is not proud of her country and talking to Iran . . . yeah, that will work.

For starters having a President who is more in touch with regular folks is a great start of change. We are tired of the same old same old game. Time for a new view.

Obama Commends DNC for Cutting Lobbyist Contributions
Email
Share June 05, 2008 1:28 PM
ABC News’ Sunlen Miller Reports: In his first public campaign event since the end of the primary season, Sen. Barack Obama referred to himself twice as the Democratic nominee at a town hall in Bristol, Virginia.
Calling the Democratic Party as “my party”, Obama referenced the DNC’s decision not to take contributions from federal lobbyists and PACs, saying he “sent a strong signal” by refusing contributions from those entities.
“We will not take a dime from Washington lobbyists or special interest PACS – we’re going to change how Washington works. They will not fund my party, they will not run our White House, and they will not drown out the voice of the American people when I am president of the United States of America,” Obama said. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/…http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/06/05…

Obama Accepts Campaign Contribution From Lobbyists’ Spouses And Holds Fundraisers At Law Offices That Engage In Lobbying. “Although Obama refuses direct campaign contributions from ‘Washington lobbyists,’ he takes money from lobbyists’ spouses and holds fundraisers at the offices of law firms that lobby Congress. He won’t touch money from PACs or lobbyists representing big oil and drug companies, but he happily accepts huge amounts of money from executives at those companies and many others. In fact, he’s relying on two oil company executives to raise $50,000 apiece for his campaign.” (Editorial, “Obama’s Claims On Lobbyist Money Prove Flimsy,” USA Today, 4/18/08)
The Center For Responsive Politics Has Calculated That Obama Accepted At Least $85,000 In Contributions From State And Municipal Lobbyists And Family Members Of Federal Lobbyists. “The nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics (CRP) has found that Mrs. Clinton has accepted more than $750,000 from lobbyists so far during the presidential campaign, while Mr. Obama took more than $85,000. Massie Ritsch, a spokesman for the center, said the group’s figures include donations from family members of federal lobbyists as well as contributions from state and municipal lobbyists.” (Jim McElhatton, “Obama Takes Funds From Lobby Partners,” The Washington Times, 2/22/08)
Obama Has Accepted Contributions From Law Firms That Engage In Lobbying:
Obama Has Accepted “Hundreds Of Thousands Of Dollars” From Partners Of Law Firms That Engage In Federal Lobbying. “Sen. Barack Obama, who has refused donations from federal lobbyists and paints his Democratic presidential rival as a Washington insider for accepting their contributions, took hundreds of thousands of dollars from partners at dozens of firms that lobbied Congress in 2007.” (Jim McElhatton, “Obama Takes Funds From Lobby Partners,” The Washington Times, 2/22/08)
Obama’s Campaign Has Refused To Release A Comprehensive List Of
Outside Advisers.”There is no full list of lobbyists advising
Sen. Obama, and a campaign spokesman declined to release the
campaign’s list of outside advisers. Some advisers have asked
to remain anonymous, citing professional or personal reasons,
said Tommy Vietor, an Obama spokesman, who acknowledged that
federally registered lobbyists may be among them.” (Mary
Jacoby, “Obama Campaign Enlists Lobbyists,” The Wall Street
Journal, 3/1/08)
